        Remote Humidity Controllers – Sensamatic Datamatic and Humidifan
a

At the heart of every Airtech Sensair humidity control product is a microprocessor controlled humidity sensor. Sensair has designed and manufactured sophisticated electronic humidity controllers for over 20 years. As electronic components, microprocessor and humidity sensors have developed and improved over these years, so Sensair has incorporated all the best features. Airtech and Sensair have an unrivalled reputation for technological innovation. In 1984, some fan suppliers were offering for sale mechanical humidity devices, some with ‘high’, ‘medium’ or ‘low’ settings! Today, Airtech Sensair controllers are “light years” away from such devices and offer the accuracy, control and features previously thought to be unobtainable. In addition, the programming is such that in Real Time each humidity controller acts and reacts with environmental conditions within the room to ensure, for example, the optimum fan running time. All Airtech Sensair humidity controllers have a 5 year guarantee as standard.

Three ranges of remote humidity controllers are available. These are Sensamatic Energysaver, Datamatic Energysaver and Humidifan (all registered Trademarks). For all Airtech extract fans, two versions are available i.e. those with an integral humidity controller and those with a remote humidity controller (in a single gang wall mounted box). For each of the products in these three ranges the product literature details the remote humidity controller version – suffix REM. The information here summarises the humidity controller details. A significant number of remote Airtech humidity controllers are used with extract fans from different suppliers and with such extract devices as heat exchangers and positive pressure systems.

Furthermore the Datamatic Energysaver range of remote humidity controllers, apart from activating the extract devices at a pre-set set point, also incorporate the following features:

  1. Anticipatory or dynamic control (to deal with a sharp rise in sensed RH);

  2. ‘Night time set back’ (to inhibit fan running in the ‘silent hours’);

  3. Over-run on pull cord switch;
  4. Two colour diagnostic LEDs;

  5. Real Time two hour recording of the following data for a rolling period of 420 days – RH, temperature, RH set point, vapour pressure, dew point, every time the power is removed from the extract device and when it is reconnected, including the indicated time for that period – all on an A4 sheet of paper whether for a 7 day period, a 28 period or 420 days;

  6. Uniquely the recording of every time the fan runs and, within the limits of memory, the length of time of each fan running. This can be shown visually on all three types of graphs as indicated at ‘5.’ above. In addition, the cumulative total of fan running time is shown. For 70 or more years, no ventilation product has been able to answer the question ‘how long has the fan been running’ or to deal with typical statements as ‘my fan never runs’ or ‘my fan never stops running’. Now, the facts are immediately available and the questions and perceptions can be answered.

Sensamatic Energysaver range of remote humidity controllers

SM0016 – For kitchens
Set point remote humidity sensor with anticipatory control. Microprocessor control continually monitors the RH in the room and if there is a sudden rise in humidity the sensor anticipates hitting the set point and activates the fan before it is reached.
SM0050 – For bathrooms
Dynamic remote humidity sensor range 40% – 75% RH designed to operate the fan when any sudden increase in humidity is sensed.
SM0050/T – For integral bathrooms
Dynamic remote humidity sensor range 40% – 75% RH with timer designed to operate the fan when any sudden increase in humidity is sensed.

Datamatic Energysaver range of remote humidity controllers

DM0016 – For kitchens
Real Time Data logging set point remote humidity sensor with anticipatory control. Microprocessor control continually monitors and logs the RH in the room and if there is a sudden rise in humidity the sensor anticipates hitting the set point and activates the fan before it is reached.
DM0050 – For bathrooms
Real Time Data logging Dynamic remote humidity sensor in range 40% – 75% RH designed to operate the fan when any sudden increase in humidity is sensed.
DM0050/T – For integral bathrooms
Real Time Data logging Dynamic remote humidity sensor in range 40% – 75% RH with timer, designed to operate the fan when any sudden increase in humidity is sensed.

Humidifan range of remote humidity controllers

HF0016 – For kitchens
Set point remote humidity sensor with anticipatory control
HF0050 – For bathrooms
Dynamic remote humidity sensor in range 40% – 75% RH
HF0050/T – For integral bathrooms
Dynamic remote humidity sensor in range 40% – 75% RH with timer

a IMPORTANT
For maximum effectiveness, all remote humidity controllers should be sited:
1. between the major moisture producing source and the door to the room;
2. about 100 mm down from the ceiling;
3. not hidden behind a shelf, cupboard, etc. but be in direct line of sight to the extract fan.
